If you're good at what you do, anything is a good path

most gaming programmers/developers are employed by a company and i dunno if they allow outsourcing individuals that can work at home i also dont know if you can work at your own pace usually youll be given a deadline to finish a certain project as for 'decent living' your skill, level of education, resume usually will commensurate with your salary |

you couldn't just be a gamer
you'd need a journalism degree, and get a gig somewhere with a gaming magazine or website to make it worthwhile |

The gaming industry is a developping really fast competition between developpers but with the advent of internet and mobile gaming in itself. you could make a living out of your house by just programming your stuff.
the only problem is staying afloat. making a good living is like anything else, it entirely depends on how much work you are willing to go for. gaming for exemple requires a hell of a lot of work, to a point where most developpers will tell you they have no social lives outside the offices. those who do are usuaklly not great developpers or only surfing on pie shares of clone gaming they did. so i'd say if you can hit a great company of gaming, like Ubisoft or Capcom or whatever big game company there is near your home. then you would be fine. indie gaming is a very hard nut to crack open to get rich. way too many indie games trying to come out per years. aside fromt hat, there are people living out of gaming games sports. you know running around the country and doing tournaments. but that is also a very very very demanding life and include next to no social lives. so it really depends on your dispositions toward it. but isn't that the same for pretty much any jobs. |

now let's began to explain about coding if you were curious about language learning based around games or could help in that field what steps would you take, and where would you begin. school or self taught etc.

mix of both, being self taught is actually quite good, but to a company having a school degree is probably much more worth. in either case show your work that you have done and be proud of it and show how it can be applied to your work.
as for programming language... c++ for sure. anything else might just be laughed at. except those who work on web apps where c++ is probably less used. |
